EverQuest II Extended requires an Internet connection (which you are responsible for) in order to play. Each membership upgrade or Extended Marketplace in-game item requires a purchase. The Silver membership can be purchased via a one-time transaction (purchase of a Silver Pack item) available in-game for 1,000 Station Cash. Upgrading to the Gold or Platinum membership plan requires the purchase of a recurring membership. For Platinum members, 500 Station Cash is awarded once per month of membership throughout the purchased year. Promotional gameplay time and Station Cash™ are non-transferrable, promotional in-game items are non-tradeable, and items, Station Cash and gameplay time have no cash value, and are subject to the game's End User License Agreement and Station Terms of Service.
