EverQuest II is a game that reaches across international boundaries and brings together people of a myriad of nataions and backgrounds. Soffrina, the French Community Representataive recently intereviewed members of the guild "Leviathan" for the French Players site, and we thought it would be nice to share a little insight about this guild with a wider audience. If you have ever wondered how similar your guild is to your international peers, this is a chance to take a look and see where you match up.

What inspired you in choosing the name Leviathan?
We had a good time while trying to come up with the name of the guild. We were on a mission to find an impressive Latin name, but we were unable to find any interesting names that were not already taken ^_^. We then researched a variety of cultural references, and luckily were saved by a providential announcement by one of the guild members (Thanks Aks), who said "Leviathan." After verifying the origins of the word and its significance, we all said banco!

When was the guild created?
The guild was created at the beginning of 2007, and we hope that it's going to continue to grow.

What is the name of your guild leader?
We decided to have dual leadership for our guild, in order to ensure different views are expressed to the benefit of the guild. The duet consists of: Efoy, and Kirion.

What makes Leviathan unique?
Leviathan is a unique guild. The reason is that our guild branches out into two sectors: the first is dedicated to the raiders (and to the obligation to follow the strict rules, such as their required presence at events) and the other sector is dedicated to the players who do not have plenty of time to play (for example; a couple whose conflicting schedule allows one of them to play a lot, whereas the other plays from time to time). This rule allows us to be with our friends even if they opt not to engage in raids.

Does Leviathan have a website? Who maintains the site?
Yes, Leviathan has a website: http://leviathan.xoo.it which is growing everyday. Cirth is in charge of the site. I do invite all of you to stop by and read the latest news.

How many players are members of Leviathan?
We are around 50 players.

What kind of system of hierarchy do you have, and how can members advance or change roles?
We have officers and a guild leader that come up with all the decisions for the raiders and the non-raiders. In order to learn more about that, you would need to read our chart

What is your main goal when recruiting new members?
Our goal is to be able to raid at a higher level, that's why we need to recruit players from certain classes who have a great deal of motivation

What are the advantages of being a member of Leviathan?
Some of the advantages of being in our guild are the good sense of humor, giving each other a helping hand, knowing the importance of the acronyms like: CCC, SDN, FUDK or CCN (and no, this has nothing to do with the cat!)

What kinds of players join Leviathan?
I would say a mix of all these: players who are hard core raiders (and tattooed!) surrounded by their friends the non-raiders.

Is Leviathan a guild who has players interested in role play?
No, we do not encourage or discourage roleplay with other players. They can do whatever pleases them.

How many times a week do you participate in events as a guild?
We have 4-5 raids a week, and the rest of the time, we play in groups

What are your most memorable quests?
The prismatic quests are the most memorable as they require that all guild members invest their time in them.

What have been your greatest difficulties in the game?
Kirion: Dealing with Cirth's and Igor's sense of humor
Efoy: He has to work hard not to run after the female elves.

What have been your most difficult combats?
Our most difficult combat is fighting for world peace, saving baby seals, and fighting against the proliferation of quilts in the marines.

What is the coolest event that you shared with other guild members?
I hesitate to choose between the fall of Treyloth or Malkonis. The satisfaction of finishing those instances in EoF was huge. We always look to have good time like those as we progress in EoF. Cheldrak was also so much fun, especially as we have to count how many times it transformed us into an adventurer stew.

What is your favorite expansion?
I would say EoF for its general richness even if it doesn't contain enough instanced content.

What are your future projects in game?
We are planning to defeat all avatars in EoF for the next 2 weeks, and all this with our arms tied to our backs and singing YMCA……On a more serious note, our mid and long term project is to clean all the raid instances in EoF.

Do you have any advice for the new players and to those looking to form a guild?
Lots and lots and lots of courage. And you need perseverance! Everything is possible and could be achieved…this is the game of life!

Special thanks to the members of Levithan for sharing a bit about their guild with the community at large, and to Soffrina for the translation of the interview into English! Discuss this interview in the official forums.
