Earlier this month Arhea held a 'Flash Fiction Challenge' drawing entries from multiple player-authors. The contest had to utilize a specific set of plot elements, as well as be related to Norrath, and fit within a fair word count. The contest drew a number of entries which you can read in this thread.
The Sword of Innoruuk – The Journal of Karite S'Therik has been an ongoing project since January of this year, and recently picked back up! It makes for wonderful insight into the mind of a Shadowknight.
"Looking back now, I know that I should have seen this coming. The signs have been there for some time, even before the first rumors of Neriak's return. She had been drawing back, positioning the Faithful to be ready to act. You can see that the Blessed One prepared us for this without ever telling us what we were preparing for."
In The Tales of Norrath, we look not to the present or past of Norrath, but to the future beyond the current timeline of EverQuest II. The author, annis Sul'Egna demonstates his vision of what will come to Norrath in a story that has been updated steadily since first appearing in May.
"For QEYNOS!" The old Tier'Dal shouted as he told the story, thrusting his arm upward as though an imaginary sword was there. He stood as he did so, the children watching him act it out, until he stopped suddenly. His brow become low and then his face screwed up slightly.
In 'My Love, a Turtledove' Sordia recently shared the first installment of a short story about the wishes of a young girl desperate for love.
"The young girl bit her lip, as the tears broke free and a small sob escaped. "He...says he is mine...but he isn't mine. He is hers. Hers. Hers always. He goes home to her. I ask him to stay, but he never stays. Never. I would do anything for him, to have him but I can't take the pain anymore.""
Lastly, in 'Common Blood' Eldrie shares the tale of a Teir'Dal who calls Qeynos her home.
"The waters were calm, though the sound of the waves tapping against the hull and the chatter of the wind in the sails made the deck far from quiet. You get used to all that background noise after you've been sailing for awhile; what's more, you learn to appreciate the freedom it gives you to talk, or to let someone else talk, without having to make conversation.'
