Welcome back to EverQuest II! It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
Now that you’re back, you have the tough choice of either hopping right back in with your favorite old character, or starting a new one. And if you decide to start a new one, you might be wondering which server is best for you to play on. We hope this guide will help you make that decision.
If you have friends who are currently playing, then great! Start up a new character on their server and before long you’ll be grouping with the best of them.
If you’re coming back solo, or with a group of friends who aren’t already playing, you have a few options to consider before choosing a server.
EverQuest II has four basic types of servers; Regular, Roleplaying, International, and Live Gamer. Of these types, a few select servers are marked for Player vs. Player combat.
Regular Servers- Befallen
- Blackburrow
- Butcherblock
- Crushbone
- Everfrost
- Guk
- Kithicor
- Mistmoore
- Najena
- Nektulos
- Oasis
- Permafrost
- Unrest
A Regular server is just that; regular. You’ll find the majority of our players on one of these servers. There is no player versus player combat, except under certain circumstances, nor is it requested that you roleplay as your character.
PvP ServersIf you’re interested in a more aggressive gaming style, Player vs. Player might be for you. On a PvP server, any player can attack any other player, with a few restrictions, defined by the PvP rule set.
Roleplaying Preferred ServersFor those more inclined to immerse themselves fully in a game, to become their character and bring them to life, a Roleplaying server might be for you.
International Servers- Innovation (German)
- Valor (German)
- Runnyeye (English / EU)
- Splitpaw (English / EU)
- Sebilis (Japanese)
- Storms (French)
These servers run in the language noted by each name, and are otherwise the same as Regular servers.
Live Gamer Servers- The Bazaar
- Vox (PvP)
The Live Gamer servers allow players to list auctions and buy the right to use items, coin and characters from other players. This service is managed and operated by Live Gamer, the leading provider for publisher-supported secondary trading of the right to use virtual items.
The Test Server
For those who would like to preview content from future updates ahead of their launch date; and don't mind helping the EQII team work out the last few kinks in that content, you can also choose the EQII Test server through the launcher. The test server is much more volatile than a typical server though, so be ready for more hotfixes and updates than you will find on a normal server.
These are just some things to consider when you’re choosing a server to play on. If you still have questions about individual servers, hop on over to our server forums and browse the messages or ask your fellow players.
